“I Knew What I Had to Do”

What would you do if you found $900? That’s a decision 11-yearold Foster Dudley of Alabama faced last year.
Foster was at a store with his mom when he spotted an envelope on the floor. It was stuffed with nine crisp $100 bills!
Foster imagined what it would be like to keep the cash. Then he thought about how sad he'd be if he were to lose that much money.
“I knew what I had to do,” Foster says.
A bank receipt in the envelope had the owner’s name—Verdina Ball. The store managers set up a meeting so Foster could give her the money in person.
“It felt amazing!” Foster told Scholastic News.

Why do you think Foster Dudley says it felt "amazing" to return the money to Verdina Ball?
